Smt.
Siri Rama is an accomplished dancer, choreographer
and teacher who has been performing for many years. She learnt dance
under the distinguished gurus, Shri C.R. Acharyulu, Smt. Komal Valli,
Shri Ramaswamy Bhagavathar, Smt. K. Vijayalakshmi, Shri T .V. Soundererajan
and Shri T.S. Kadirvelu. She has given full length recitals and
lecture-demonstrations in Bharata Natyam and Kuchipudi in several
major cities in India, and has also toured Germany, the Middle East
and the U.S. She maintains an active concert profile in India and
returns every year to guide her senior students at Kanaka Sabha.
Siri has completed her doctoral degree in Fine Arts at the University
of Hong Kong.
Smt.
Saroja Srinath is a musicologist and music composer.
She retired recently as the head of the department of Bharata Natyam
at Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyalaya (University of Mumbai). Smt.
Srinath learnt music and musicology at the Central College of Carnatic
Music in Madras where she was taught by several of the great masters
of yesteryears and today, including Dr.S. Ramanathan, Musiri Subramania
Iyer, T. Brinda, T. Mukta and M. S. Anantharaman. She has also learnt
music from Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. Smt. Srinath has also composed
several dance items, and has been the producer of all the dance
productions of Kanaka Sabha. She has lectured on Carnatic music
for Gananjali in Hong Kong, and has written several articles on
Indian classical music for several publications. She is a regular
contributor to the Kannada press in Mumbai.
